Recent conferences of “For the Strength of Youth” (FSY) in Tonga showcased the dedication and resilience of young participants, who traveled for 24 hours by boat to attend. President Timothy L. Farnes noted that many of these youth were away from home for the first time and faced challenging conditions, yet they reported extraordinary experiences and insights about their faith journey.
During a podcast discussion, President Farnes and Young Women General President Emily Belle Freeman highlighted the transformative impact of FSY, which is designed for youth aged 14 and above. The five-day event includes devotionals, classes, and activities aimed at strengthening faith in Jesus Christ while providing a fun environment for learning about the gospel.
As the conferences progress, participants engage deeply with scriptures and prayer, leading to significant personal growth. President Freeman emphasized that by Thursday, many youth experience a profound realization of their identity and purpose, which she described as a day of “remarkable change.”
‘Walk with me’ and gather
The upcoming FSY conferences will reflect the 2026 youth theme, “Walk with me,” inspired by the story of Enoch in Moses 6. President Farnes drew parallels between Enoch’s humble offerings and the blessings that come from faith, encouraging youth to offer their talents and gratitude to God.
At the conclusion of the Tonga conference, President Farnes remarked that participants left with an abundance of spiritual blessings, symbolized by the “12 baskets full” of experiences and renewed desires to walk with Christ. President Freeman reiterated the importance of gathering for worship, stressing the powerful effect of community among righteous youth.
More information about FSY
FSY conferences attract thousands of youth globally each year. In South America, conferences are currently being held during the summer months of January and February. In the U.S. and Canada, preregistration occurs in the fall, with specific timelines for on-cycle and off-cycle stakes to ensure participation.
For those interested in attending FSY in 2026, further details can be found on the official registration timeline. Friends of the Church are also welcome to participate. Additional information is available at FSY.ChurchofJesusChrist.org.
